About Expat Australia

Practical guidance for Australians moving to the United States.

Expat Australia exists to make the Australia to USA pathway clearer, more practical, and easier to navigate.

Built from real experience across the F-1, CPT, OPT and E-3 pathway.

Moving from Australia to the United States is rarely a straight line. Between university, visa rules, job searches, sponsorship questions, banking, healthcare, tax, housing and city decisions, most Australians are forced to piece together information from scattered sources.

Expat Australia was created to bring those moving parts into one clear, useful platform for Australians researching life, study and work in America.

The platform is shaped by lived experience moving from Australia to San Diego, studying in the United States on an F-1 visa, navigating CPT and OPT, and later moving through the E-3 visa pathway.

Why this platform exists

From 2019 to 2025, the United States became more than a destination. It became a place to study, work, build a life, understand the immigration system, and experience the practical reality of relocating as an Australian.

That experience highlighted a major gap. Australians have access to plenty of information online, but very little of it is organised around the Australian experience specifically.

Expat Australia is designed to close that gap with clear guides, relocation resources, visa explainers, job search insights, city comparisons and practical tools for Australians planning a move to the United States.
